Injuries and fatalities continue to rise in Gaza. Medical attention is now more critical than ever.
Acute shortages of medical supplies and basics like fuel, water, and electricity are compounding the crisis while limiting the response capacity of already overstretched hospitals.
WHO is on the ground, staying and providing life-saving medical supplies, surgical equipment and trauma kits while expanding emergency care. WHO is also positioning supplies at the border with Egypt to care for the hundreds of thousands of people needing urgent medical care. Shipments carrying more than nine tons of WHO supplies including surgical instruments for medical operations, water tanks, and tents have already been delivered.
WHO also delivered 34,000 liters of fuel with support from UNRWA, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.
The situation is increasingly desperate. More is needed. Much more.
The critically injured, the sick, and the vulnerable cannot wait. This includes babies in incubators, children on life support, and nearly 200 pregnant women who are expected to give birth each day. Other patients receiving treatment for cancer, dependent on kidney dialysis, and needing medication for heart disease need constant care.
